Enyimba began their quest to land a first CAF Confederation Cup trophy with a 2-0 defeat of Djoliba at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar.
Isiaka Oladuntoye scored in the 48th minute while Stanley Dimgba converted an 81st-minute penalty as Enyimba took control of group C.
With this, the People’s Elephant have somehow avenged MFM’s loss to the Malians in the playoff stage.
Despite Enyimba’s trophy-loaded cabinet, the CAF Confederation Cup is the only trophy the two-time CAF Champions League champions are yet to win.
The seven-time Nigerian champions are the only surviving Nigerian team on the continent.
