With the CAF Champions League group stage set to kickoff on January 13, Lobi Stars could be hit by a major exodus reports naijasportsgrill.com.ng.
The club’s top scorer last season Samad Kadiri and hero of the preliminary rounds, Sikiru Alimi could be on their way out in January.
A close confidante of Kadiri revealed he would be linking up with a club in Vietnam while Alimi’s destination is not yet clear.
After living in the shadows of Anthony Okpotu and Kingsley Eduwo the previous season, Kadiri broke out last season with crucial goals that kept Lobi at the top of the table till matchday 24 when the season was abruptly ended.
He has also been an integral part of the team during the preliminaries.
Meanwhile, Alimi, signed from Sunshine Stars, is the team’s leading scorer in the preliminaries with three goals. His brace in the second leg fired the team past Gor Mahia of Kenya.
How Lobi would replace these players is left to be known.
The pride of Benue have been drawn in a tough group A which comprises three past winners of the tournament, ASEC Mimosa, Wydad Casablanca and Mamelodi Sundowns.
