KGATLANA BEATS OSHOALA, ORDEGA TO CAF WOMEN’S AWARD AS SALAH PICKS MEN’S HONOUR

South Africa’s Thembi Kgatlana has beaten Nigerian duo of Assisat Oshoala and Francesca Ordega to the Women African Footballer of the year at the CAF Awards held in Dakar, Senegal.

Despite beating Banyana Banyana to the AWCON title, the Nigerians lost the continent’s individual honour to Kgatlana.

Similarly Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis was named women coach of the year.

Super Falcons were however named the women national team of the year.

Meanwhile, no Nigerian was named in the CAF team of the year.

This will come as a surprise considering that the Super Eagles were arguably the continent’s best performers at last World Cup.

The African Player of the year went to Egypt’s Mohammed Salah who led Liverpool to Champions League final and emerged EPL top scorer and was also named EPL Player of the season.
