CYPRUS CUP: FALCONS BEAT SLOVAKIA, BRIGHTEN QUALIFICATION CHANCES

Super Falcons almost threw away a three goal lead but recovered to beat Slovakia 4-3 in Group C of the Cyprus Cup on Friday reports naijasportsgrill.com.ng.

This result brightens chances of qualifying from the group having lost 1-4 to Austria in their first match.

Thomas Dennerby’s girls had to do it the hard way after leading 3-0 at half time thanks to goals by Rita Chikwelu (7th and 38th minutes) and Osinachi Ohale (28th minute).

Chikwelu failed to extend Nigeria’s lead when she missed a penalty kick in the 56th minute.

Slovakia bounced back in the second half and levelled up scores through Jana Vojtekova in the 67th minute and Lucie Harsanyova from the spot in the 72nd and 76th minutes.

Substitute Anam Imo sealed victory for the African champions in the 82nd minute.
