Nigerian representatives Rangers International’s qualification from Group B of the CAF Confederation Cup was dealt a heavy blow with a 0-2 loss at home to Etoile du Sahel on Sunday.
After losing 0-1 to Etoile in Souse last week, the Flying Antelopes hoped to get their campaign back on track with maximum points at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu but were unsettled by Maher Hannachi’s 19th minute strike.
Hard as Rangers tried, they couldn’t level up before halftime.
Iheb Msakni scored from the spot in the 69th minute to compound the woes of the hosts.
The result means Rangers remain third after CS Sfaxien secured a 0-0 draw away to bottom-placed Salitas.
Next up for the Aiteo Cup champions is a trip to Salitas next Sunday.
