IWOBI RISKS SANCTION FOR ‘SMELLY BREATH’ MOCKERY OF RENNES’S TRAORE

Alex Iwobi may be sanctioned after a disrespectful gesture towards Rennes defender Hamari Traore on Thursday night.

Iwobi delivered what he deemed the perfect response following a bust-up with Traore during Arsenal’s Europa League victory reports Metro UK.

The Gunners were chasing a 3-1 defeat from the first leg but two goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ effort sealed a 3-0 victory for Unai Emery’s side, who have now secured a place in Friday’s Europa League quarter-final draw.

But Arsenal were fortunate to not see Alex Iwobi sent off late on for kicking Traore in an incident off the ball.

Iwobi and Traore wound up.

The Rennes defender angrily confronted Iwobi but as the two went face to face to speak to each other, the Arsenal midfielder started to hold his nose before walking away from the situation.

Traore was booked for the foul, but Iwobi could face further punishment as the Latvian referee Andris Treimanis missed the Arsenal midfielder’s kick off the ball.

The Gunners will know their quarterfinal opponents after the draw on Friday.
